The Clover Mead Gathering:
A Weekend of Norse Ceremony Under the Greenwood

The Clover Honey Mead Gathering
A Weekend of Northern Ceremony Under the Woven Branches

Weekend 3–5 July 2026

(Friday 5pm – Sunday 3pm)

Step into a rare gathering in the wild part of Sussex, a once-in-a-lifetime weekend of sowing seeds of ancestral practice alongside Norse myth and story. Together we will learn of the old ways, invoke creativity and insight, and be immersed in two large ancestral ceremonies of Northern Europe- the High Seat ceremony and the ancestral Utiseta. This event is open to international participants - welcoming people from far and wide.

Itinerary:

Friday

"Hooded and veiled with their night-like tresses,
The Fates shall bring what no prophet guesses"
— Lord Dunsany

We begin at 5pm with introductions and a communal dinner. From 7pm onward, we prepare and enter the High Seat ceremony, welcoming the Völva, the staff bearer who will be with us.

The High Seat is a ritual honoring the voices of women and their oracular wisdom, with men supporting and serving the work. Through chanting and trance, the Völva journeys along the ancient paths of Yggdrasil, carrying our collective intent. She returns to illuminate what requires attention, leaving us empowered, and blessed for the weekend ahead.

Saturday

10am: Breakfast
Lunch: 1pm

For the Utiseta, fasting through the night is recommended but optional. If needed, bring a light snack.

Sunday

Morning Ceremony: Celebrate the completion of the Utiseta initiation. Share the gifts and insights the forest offers through a session of meditation and reflection.

After 8–9am, the day is open for rest, reflection, music, reading, and communion with the land. Retreat leaders and volunteers will remain until Monday; participants may stay if it suits.
