Session 3: The Treasures of the Gods and Goddesses`

In the first session, we learnt about the Creation and the primal laws that were revealed and how an "Oaths of Peace"gave birth to wisdom. In the second session, we learnt how the Gods found their art and poetry. Now, in the third session, we hear the story about the treasures of the Gods and how they obtain them; how Thor found his hammer, Odin his spear and Frey his great ship. Central to this story is the glorious hair of Sif, that which moves like the barley in high summer.

We are continuing our explorations of these stories together, after each storytelling session there are conversations about what we find within, to discover what this world-heritage can offer us today and to participate in making meaning out of the stories.

Star constellations will be joined within the stories whenever possible for us to learn to perceive a new mythic roof over our heads. The Old Norse language will also be heard in the tellings. You are welcome to join for all, a few, or one of these sessions, whatever works for you; each session will be stand alone and recorded for you to keep. As a conclusion to this 12 month journey, the last story I will tell is the story of "Beren and Luthien" from JRR Tolkien's own imagination, deeply influenced by Northern Myth and the Elvish Sindarin language will be weaved into this telling. `

The titles over the 12 months will include: The Creation Myth, The Mead of Poetry, The Treasures of the Gods, Freya's Wedding, Thor's Journeys, The Apples of Immortality, Thor's Goes Fishing, The Mistletoe Arrow, The Last Days of Loki and the Endings of the Worlds and Re-Birth.

Bring a candlelight and listen in to some wisdoms that have stood the test of time.
