The Thor Myths are some of the most famous stories of the Viking age. We will follow Thor's journeys as he travels outside the periphery of the known worlds where he confront giants, a serpent that circles the Earth, a runner that is as fast as thought itself, cauldrons that can brew oceans of mead and master magicians.``
In one story, he even has a battle with the devil himself and this happens in the South of England! This battle has shaped some of the South Downs landscape. Who wins? Come and find out.`
Thor is a friend of all the tillers of soil, a protector of his Mother, the Earth, and a lover of humankind. His love of food, large horns of mead and cheerful songs late in the night makes him a kindred-God, someone that is fully trusted, offering a spirit of friendship, strength and fidelity.
After the stories, we will be speaking of heroes and heroines. Today a calling is being heard: the world requires new heroes to emerge, but what shape will they take and what are the heroic actions that are needed today?
The origin of all hero myths are enacted by the sun everyday, as the sun rises after a long passage through the dark. The sun returns to us a blessing each dawn.
Perhaps the sun is our first hero. Maybe all heroines are solar in origin?
Join us, it will be a lively discussion.
