NEOLITHIC BEAR & ANIMAL MYTHS, CEREMONY and RUNE-CHANTING
By popular demand from those living overseas, this is the online companion to the in-person event held in Sussex.
The animal spirits are our divine companions embedded in our human souls. On the 5th of May, we will gather online to remember and explore the great animal myths of old Europe and learn about the first neolithic bear hunt and its significance in our human story. Beneath our long forgetting, the animal spirits are still here, waiting within our oldest cultural roots.
We will hear old European stories about the Running Nine-Antlered Stag that carries away the sun and brings it back, a raven that is the keeper of memories, and the spirit of the wolf that we have bound, in ourselves, and in the world. The session will also be recorded and shared with all who register, so you can return to the material in your own time.
With these tellings and practices, we will draw near the Fylgja, the primordial totem animal that may know our purpose and that helps us navigate between worlds. Through drumming and rune-chanting, we will work with animal sigil and their signatures in the natural world, which you will be guided to draw onto a surface at home.
Expect drumming and chanting, ceremony, story, and a journey through the oldest layers of our kinship with the more-than-human world.
WHAT TO BRING FOR THE SESSION:
If you can, a drum of any kind
A picture or small statue of a wild animal meaningful to you
Any ritual tools you work with
Pen and paper for sigil work. Rune-making guidance and templates will be shared via the online space
A candle or simple altar space
Prepare as you would for a sacred day
The gathering will be held via zoom.
